There may still be a nip in the air, but the view from my kitchen window is a harbinger. Our flowering quince tree is in full bloom 🌸
Even I, a bonafide “winter person,”can’t resist the hopeful feeling that comes with the sight of spring blossoms. I also happen to have flower children whose yearly delight with every bud and bloom has really taught me to ‘stop and smell the roses’, so to speak…
And this spring is bringing some excitement to Tremonte’s!
I’m coming out of pop-up hibernation with a couple really special events.

Mark your calendars:
Saturday, March 16th, 11am-3pm at fruitsuper shop
Saturday, March 30th, 11am-2pm at Café Lago
I will have new seasonal specials at each of these events!

I’m bringing my FAVORITE St. Patty’s Day bake: Queen Nigella Lawson’s Chocolate Guinness Cake, to my pop-up at fruitsuper shop on 3/16. Preorders are open now!
Yes, Tremonte’s is an Italian American bakery… But on St Patrick’s Day we’re all a little Irish, right?! (Actually, I did 23 and Me and found out I’m more than a little…) ☘️

I make Nigella’s cake every year because, well, it’s the best. The Guinness adds a roasty depth and slight bitterness to the deep, dark, chocolate cake. It even looks like a pint with a float of delicious cream cheese frosting on top.

Now, we all know the best pairing with Tremonte’s treats is a great cup of coffee. That’s why I’m so excited to be partnering Emme Cafe for the event at fruitsuper shop. Emme makes delicious handcrafted espresso beverages. I am especially looking forward to trying her einspanner, a beverage I became familiar with around this time last year when we were visiting family in Austria.

Our host, fruitsuper, is a community focused business supporting local artists, makers and small businesses. They even give back by building tiny homes for the unhoused. Plus, they have a gorgeous shop with gifts, art, and even wine! Like beautiful things? You’ll love fruitsuper. I can’t wait to see you there.

My next event is, dare I say, UNPRECEDENTED.
On Saturday, March 30th, Carla, the owner of neighborhood favorite; Cafe Lago, is opening the restaurant doors early (11-2) to host my Easter weekend pop-up.
Carla said it’s her first time hosting a pop-up, so let’s make it awesome! Everyone come out!

I will have special Easter items for sale including Colomba Pasquale (aka Colomba di Pasqua). The Colomba is a traditional Italian Easter bread, similar to a panettone in taste and texture. It is often made in the shape of a dove symbolizing peace.

I will be making a limited amount of Colomba in the traditional dove shape. I ordered half a dozen special dove-shaped molds (not easy to find!) from an Italian shop in Philadelphia and immediately kicked myself for not ordering more. I will also make Colomba in regular panettone molds. No matter what shape your Colomba is, it will be damn delicious. And that’s a guarantee!
If you want to be sure you get a dove Colomba, get on those pre-orders stat, when they open at noon on Friday, March 15th!

I am so excited to see my faithful blog readers at my events this month. I truly appreciate your support!
See you soon!
