It’s cookie 12 of the countdown. We made it!
Black and White Cookies

I had scheduled this to be my last cookie of the countdown because I was sure it would take me until New Year’s Eve to get through all these cookies!
And, for obvious reasons, this cookie just screams New Year

But, here we are on Christmas Eve!
It’s a miracle ✨
So, here’s a bit about one of my favorites:
Having originated in the Jewish bakeries of New York City, I can’t claim that these cookies are Italian, nor are they Christmas cookies.
But New Yorkers request Black and White Cookies so frequently that I had to add them to my selection.
The base cookie is soft, cakey, and scented ever so slightly with lemon zest. It’s topped with a firm glaze that took me a while to formulate just right. FYI, if you’re making these at home, many glaze recipes are far too runny and won’t yield that crisp, clean line down the center of the cookie. You want to create something that’s actually solid at room temp and requires some warming to work with. A challenge I became a bit obsessed with. But, I’d like to think I mastered it. And now when I glaze these cookies I kind of go into a zen state making them just right.

Speaking of zen state- I sent my final Christmas cookie orders out yesterday!! I’d say it’s time to put my feet up, but it’s the holidays, and I’m a mom/daughter/sister/wife. So, we’re still rolling.
After my last order though, I got to cook dinner for the first time in weeks, since literally every surface in my kitchen (and beyond) was covered in cookies. I got to snuggle my kids on the couch and watch mid-century classics: the original Grinch, and Charlie Brown’s Christmas, with them. And after my last pop-up, I got to have BLT’s and bubbly with my mom.

Some of the best moments of the season, I’d say 🥹
End of Season Recap

My last pop-up before Christmas was an absolute frenzy
Thanks so much to everyone who came out! It was another instant sell-out!
I’m so sorry to those who struck out. If the holidays have taught me anything, it’s that I’m going to have to pivot the biz between now and next year to serve more cookie fans. The demand has become more than I can handle on my own.
Huge thanks to my wonderful hosts at Broadcast Coffee. It was a full-court cookie press in there! And thanks, as always, to my mom and sis for helping manage the line and get cookie customers their orders!

Thank you to all of you who follow my cookie journey here on the blog. And thank you to everyone who placed orders and came to a pop-up this year. This biz truly is a labor of love, and I only get to do it because you come out for cookies again and again.
Wishing you and yours a magical holiday!
