I went pretty hard on the cookie biz this June through mid-July. I got to meet so many great folks – and make new fans out of you 😉, raised money for a great cause during Pride month, had some really fun special orders, pop-ups, events and was even on TV!

I am so privileged to get to do what I love for work. And I reeeeaaally want it to be successful. I hate to say “no” to any opportunity, event or order that comes my way. I also feel the compulsion to relentlessly keep the flywheel in motion by scheduling events and maintaining my social media presence. All that striving is, of course, what keeps this dream alive. But, just like any ambitious endeavor, it is only going to be sustainable with adequate recovery. (Take it from someone who has learned that lesson the hard way.)

So, I took a lil vacay.
It was part staycay- celebrating family birthdays at home, and getting to do some off-brand baking.

And part actual vacay – we took what is now an annual trip to the Sol Duc Hot Springs in the Olympic National Park. Anyone with kids knows how clutch a pool vacation is. Bonus points for being in a remote mountain setting with natural spring-fed pools. My sweetie and I also managed to squeeze in a hike-run of the High Divide Loop, thanks to Papa and Mumzy being on kid-duty.

Fueled by wild mountain blueberries, huckleberries, and backpack PBJs we gazed upon wildflowers, snow-capped peaks, ancient trees, and blue-green tarns.

Not bad, to cap off a run like that with a soak in the healing mineral waters of the hot springs back a base camp. Actually, I’d call that ideal conditions.

I know running a week’s worth of mileage through the mountains in a matter of a few hours may not sound like the most restful choice for vacation. But I’m a weirdo, ok?

Most importantly though, I got to spend time enjoying my family.
It’s not like I never get to see them. Chris and I both work from home and the kids are only in half-day preschool… but so much of our time at home is spent with me trying to get stuff done- cookie biz, or the chores of daily life- that I rarely slow down to intentionally enjoy the time spent with my most precious of people. So, it was deeply fulfilling to have unstructured time to just be together.

So now, with cup full, pleasantly sore, and with visions of rainbow cookies dancing in my head, I am back to biz!

I am excited to share that I am bringing some amount of consistency to my pop-ups. Last month I started a monthly pop-up series at Broadcast Coffee. I will be there every third Saturday, alternating between their Roosevelt and Yesler cafes. The Yesler café is close to home for me and I always love popping up there. The Roosevelt café is the cookie biz’s foray north of the cut. My first pop-up there was a success and I look forward to being back in the north end for all my folks up there! I’ll keep my monthly location, be it Yesler or Roosevelt, updated on my events page and on Instagram, so you don’t have to keep it in your brain – I know I can’t!

If you’ve been following me for any amount of time you that I’m in deep with Broadcast. They have been stalwart supporters of the biz since day one. And there is no better pairing with my cookies than their delicious coffee.
I’m also planning to regularly take part in the first Sunday Maker’s Market at Café Suliman in the Melrose Market. I was here during June and it was a party!
Like beautifully crafted treats? Come check out the scene, from stunning handmade pottery and clothing to delicious wine, coffee (and cookies, of course). Not to mention the top-notch food and wine at Cafe Suliman. Seriously, it is so good.

So, there you have it. Some normalcy to the schedule. Every first and third weekend, you know where to find me. I will also throw in more pop-ups as partners and opportunities arise. So keep an eye on my events page and social media.
Don’t forget that special orders are available too! I am here for all your Italian cookie needs. And ask me about my burgeoning fan-favorite secret menu cakes!
