I had the best time working at Tavolata. Photo: Nick Southcote

Wow, what a whirlwind this fall was.

I had such a blast working at Tavolata during October. The month just flew by. Between that, coaching cross country, running my business, raising my kids, and getting completely caught up the Mariner’s post season, it was a very busy and unforgettable fall.

We were at the M’s 15 inning winner-takes-all ALDS championship game. What a season!

To briefly recap the Tavolata experience – They sold my cookies on their dessert menu and to-go in grab-and-go six-packs at both their Fremont and Capitol Hill locations. I worked in the kitchen at the Fremont restaurant.

It’s been a while since I’ve worked in a restaurant kitchen, but I was quickly reminded of how fast-paced and physically demanding restaurant work is! It was great to be around the energy though. And to work alongside the kitchen staff. Everyone was so kind, welcoming and helpful. I am so grateful to them for sharing their time and space with me.

I’m also super grateful for the marketing team at Ethan Stowell restaurants for setting up and promoting the collaboration. I loved all the fun photos and promo videos they made. To be honest, marketing is an aspect of my one-woman business that I struggle with. So, it was so nice to have professionals on the job.

Tremonte’s for dessert at Tavolata

And a huge thank you to all of you who ordered my cookies on the dessert menu at Tavolata or stopped by for a grab-and-go six pack! I hope you loved the cookies as much as I loved being there! I miss it already.

Grab and go at the bar

So now, it’s somehow mid-November?!? And I’ve got lots of fun stuff coming!

First up, is Tremonte’s second birthday pop-up this Saturday at Broadcast Coffee, Yesler cafe, 11am-1pm. Broadcast was the site of my first ever pop-up two years ago. They have been steadfast supporters of my lil business since the beginning. I can’t think of a better place to celebrate.

Birthday behavior

Dare I say, this business is like my third child… Of course, it’s not as significant as an actual child. And there’s less crying in the middle of the night- but still some!

Can you believe, it’s my little business baby’s second birthday?! They grow up so fast 🥹

Preorders for Saturday’s pop-up are open in my online shop. I’ll have all the usual cookie suspects available for walk-ins as well.

Plus FREE CAKE

Meyer lemon olive oil cake made with Grandma Mary’s lemons

I’m giving away slices of my Meyer lemon olive oil cake to celebrate Tremonte’s second birthday!

Way back in January when my sweet friend, Irene, brought me a haul of Meyer lemons from my late grandma’s tree, I preserved the zest in sugar and froze all the juice. I used it as long as it lasted for my lemon ricotta cookies. I also stashed away a portion of it in my freezer for this cake.

Grandma Mary and me (with short, straightened hair!!) circa 1999

Grandma Mary, my matron saint of baking projects, and her lemons, are intrinsic to Tremonte’s lore. So, I can’t wait to share this delightful cake with you.

See you Saturday!

And finally… it’s time to share my holiday pop-up schedule with you. Mark your calendars!
