It’s been a while since I’ve posted here on the blog. I hope you had a great summer! It went by fast!

We spent a big chunk of the summer on a scorching and delicious trip to Italy and France. I documented some of the fantastic food we consumed on my instagram. Check it out!

And now we’re about to go full-send on my favorite season, fall. Maybe I’m basic, but there’s nothing I love more than crisp leaves under my feet, a little nip in the air, and putting the cozy clothes back into rotation.

And while summer may be cooling down, cookie season is just warming up!

Kicking it off is a monthly pop-up series at Friends of Carmela at the Pike Place Market.

Friends of Carmela is a new East Coast style deli at Pike Place Market.

They’re also my actual friends! We met through our kids’ preschool.

This pop up series is particularly special to me because of the place the market holds in my heart.

When I was a kid, my dad would take my sister and me down to Pike Place Market every Saturday morning. (I wish I had photos from those times, but these were the days before we had camera phones in our pockets).

The routine always included a stop at Stewart Brothers Coffee (how many Seattle old timers remember that?) and then we’d head straight to The Daily Dozen Doughnut Co.

I still cannot visit Pike Place without getting a bag of cinnamon sugar donuts (sprinkle donuts for the kids). 

I even got caught eating those very donuts on a hidden camera TV show (minute 7:45). But that’s a story for another time…

Now, whenever there’s the odd day off school, or a free weekend day, I continue the tradition by taking my kids down for a morning at Pike Place Market.

So, this pop-up series at Friends of Carmela (let’s call it FOC) is kind of a full circle moment for me.

I can’t wait to see you there! Pick up your favorite Italian cookies and grab one of FOC’s iconic sandwiches for lunch! A perfect pairing, if I may say so myself.
